About this experience
Located in the historic Villa Alsberg on Museumplein, the Moco Museum offers a compact yet vibrant contemporary art experience in Amsterdam. The museum’s permanent collection, known as Moco Masters, brings together iconic works by artists such as Banksy, Andy Warhol, Jean‑Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Yayoi Kusama. Housed within a 19th‑century villa, the galleries retain an intimate atmosphere that encourages close‑up viewing and personal interaction with the artworks. Visitors can wander at their own pace, enjoying the blend of street‑art sensibility and high‑profile modern pieces that contrast with the city’s larger, more traditional museums.
Beyond the indoor galleries, ticket holders also gain access to the Moco Garden, an outdoor space that often hosts additional installations and provides a quiet spot to reflect. Photography is actively encouraged, though flash is prohibited to protect the artworks. A free multi‑language audio guide is included with entry, offering insight into each piece and the stories behind the exhibitions. The museum frequently updates its temporary shows, spotlighting emerging talent and boundary‑pushing concepts, ensuring each visit feels fresh.
